Two New BCMA’s in New Mexico

Recently, two of Legacy Tree Company’s Certified Arborists took the next step. Company owner Harrison O’Connor and sales arborist Graeme Davis both took the exam and are now Board-Certified Master Arborists! Congratulations are in order.

The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is the governing body for arborist’s certification. To qualify to take the certification exams for the certifications offered by ISA, candidates must meet certain criteria of combined experience and education. In addition to the Certified Arborist credential, they also offer Utility Specialist, Urban Forest Professional, Tree Worker Aerial Lift, Tree Climber, and finally – Board Certified Master Arborist

Currently, there are fewer than ten BCMAs working in New Mexico, and now – three of them work for Legacy Tree Company. We take pride in pushing ourselves to excel in our understanding of how trees live and how urban tree care works.

Said O’Connor, “I was a bit surprised to learn that I was qualified to test for the Board Certified Master Arborist exam through ISA. The combination of my undergraduate college, working in ABQ for years, and what has amounted to a master’s class of in-the-field training with some of the best arborists in the State and country gave me what I needed to pass the exam with relatively little study. It has been a meaningful achievement for me— gaining some level of subject matter expertise with trees in the desert. I feel more a part of the community knowing I can lend some support and perspective— at least as it relates to trees.”
